Marion Erskine

Marion Erskine was born in Randfontein and matriculated in Westonaria. He studied at PUK and worked as a teacher in South Africa and later in Taiwan, where he taught English for six years. While living abroad, he wrote his debut YA novel Oos, which was a finalist in the "Ek is 'n skrywer!" competition. He then spent 15 years in the United Arab Emirates, where he worked for Emirates Airline and at Barakah, the first Arabic nuclear power station. His prescribed novel Vlerke vir almal was awarded an ATKV-Woordveertjie. He has published two chick-lit novels, Donatello & Volksie and Bruidzilla, and is known for his radio dramas. In 2024, he won the RSG Radio Drama Competition with his drama Konneksie. Marion is the creator of the popular Facebook community "Lekkerleesboekrak", where thousands of Afrikaans readers and writers come together to celebrate their love for reading. This dynamic group was honored with the 2025 Smaakmakers Award for Books and Literature. Marion currently resides in France, where he works freelance and seizes every opportunity to travel.
