Michael Stevenson

Michael Stevenson is one of the most prominent figures in the local art world and an art historian who has published widely in the field of South African art history. He is the founder of the Stevenson Gallery, which has branches in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Amsterdam.

Stevenson has a doctorate in art history from the University of Cape Town and has written and produced many books and catalogues, including Art and Aspirations: The Randlords of South Africa and their collections (1998). He works closely with collectors and public galleries and has curated many private and corporate collections.
He lives in the Cederberg.
