Louis Jansen van Vuuren

Louis Jansen van Vuuren is an artist, born and educated in South Africa. He graduated with a degree in Creative Arts and an Honours Degree in History of Art from the University of Stellenbosch, and has been an art educator and a practicing artist for forty years. Louis and his companion, Hardy Olivier, have now lived for six years about 200 kilometres south of Paris. Here Louis dedicatedly paints, whilst Hardy runs the chateau and grounds, arranges the art and cookery courses, and devises cultural tours of the region. Louis and Hardy maintain close links with the Cape and visit annually.

South African renaissance woman Anet Pienaar and husband Ton Vosloo are close friends to the couple. She is a board member of The Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch and a recognised chef, having demonstrating recipes for Kyknet and other publications. In November 2009 the three compiled and released the book Festive France (also in Afrikaans as Feestelike Frankryk), a remarkable book filled with evocative photographs, amusing anecdotes and sumptuous recipes.
