50 Risks to Take with Your Kids: A guide to building resilience and independence in the first 10 years

Daisy Turnbull

50 Risks to Take With Your Kids shows parents and carers how to nurture resilience and independence in kids as they learn to take their own risks, with simple, practical challenges for children aged 0–10.

The more children are allowed to play in mud, create games and find their own solutions to problems, the more they will thrive later in life. For anyone who wants to combat helicopter parenting and a bubble-wrapped generation, 50 Risks to Take With Your Kids is an easy-to-use framework for children aged up to 10 years old.

50 Risks to Take With Your Kids will help develop children's physical and social skills, responsibility and character before they enter those 'risky' teenage years. It suggests 50 practical challenges or 'risks' like letting your child 'help-not-help' fold the laundry or play alone in another room. As well as the 50 practical challenges, it includes some all-important parenting risks that will encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and think a little differently about raising kids.

Peppered with author Daisy Turnbull's own experiences as a parent and as a teacher, this warm and funny book is not about developmental KPIs, and it's certainly not about judgement. It's about teaching kids to recognise and assess risks themselves and readying them to take on life and all that it brings. And it's about having fun and connecting as a family along the way.
