Peter Joyce

Peter Joyce studied history at Cambridge before immigrating to Africa, spending time in Zimbabwe before moving south to help Readers Digest launch its book-publishing division. He left to become a freelance writer, and has produced some 60 books, most of them in the fields of travel and history, although biography, home improvement and a children's novel have also featured. Before becoming a full-time writer, he held senior positions with publishing companies in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Peter Joyce is an experienced travel writer with a perceptive understanding of Africa's historical and current issues. He lived and worked in Zimbabwe for 24 years, during which time he edited a national consumer magazine, became an editor for 'Books of Zimbabwe' in Bulawayo, and was editor-in-chief at College Press in Harare. Peter Joyce is the author of Cultures of South Africa, published in paperback by Sunbird Publishers in 2011. He lives in Cape Town.
