We are delighted to let you know that the printed programme for Open Book 2018 has just landed! Over 140 events from Wednesday 5th to Sunday 9th September.

You can also view the programme on the Open Book website here, and get booking now! 
If you’d prefer not to view the programme by day, you can download the entire programme 
here. You can also find a full list of the participating authors here, as well as links to all the events they will be appearing in.

All ticket sales are done through Webtickets and you can access the programme from their website, or by clicking through from our programme page.

Please remember that many of the free events are also ticketed to help us manage capacities, so unless otherwise stated, you will also need to book for the free events on Webtickets.

Festival passes are available for R600 and Day Passes for R150. Remember that if you purchase one of the passes, you still need to book for the specific events you wish to attend. You will be able to book one ticket for up to six events per day on the passes. The only events that are excluded from the day/festival passes are the author suppers.

Featuring a host of newcomers, well-known local writers and journalists engaged in inspiring discussions and fiery debates on current issues, politics, publishing, African superheroes, literature, African philosophy and more.

 

Our Keorapetse Kgositsile Poetry Café*, a pop-up poetry platform, will captivate you with interweaving verse, image, story, performance and song while the Author’s Corner will offer support to aspirant writers. Children will be entertained by storytellers in the Magic Tent and a delightful production of The Little Prince will run daily at the Market Theatre.

 

Meet experts from the book publishing industry ready to assist with learning, teaching support materials, of the best research from university presses, plus an array of books for all ages. Enjoy a wealth of literature for leisure and knowledge, as well as personal and spiritual development at this year’s South African Book Fair.
